Late famous Haitian master sculptor and painter Jasmin Joseph was born in 1923 and died in 2005. He started as a sculptor. His most striking figures were animals then turned to paint. His uses of animal tales to point a moral relate to traditions of Haitian folklore. His art is cited in all major Haitian art books and jealously collected by Haitian art lovers as they are rare to find.
